Moriah Chapel, Nefyn
Long since abandoned non conformist chapel in Nefyn, now probably inhabited by pigeons. There's a 'for sale' board outside in case anyone should be interested.

The town of Nefyn
Nefyn (until recently spelt "Nevin", it being named after the Irish goddess Nevin) was awarded a borough status by the Black Prince in 1355. The town which was protected by motte and bailey castle (of which little or nothing survives) was awarded to Nigel de Lohareyn. Nigel, a gentleman of the royal bedchamber, was granted the right to pocket all the taxes raised within the borough, as well as those of Pwllheli. Between 1832 and 1950 Nevin was one of the 6 boroughs forming the Caernarvon Boroughs constituency. David Lloyd George was its MP for 55 years.

The Sportsman, Nefyn
Closed pubs are always a sad sight but when they are located in the centre of a town or village they seem to impart a particular air of depression and failure. This pub on Stryd Fawr (High Street) was closed in January 2009 and does nothing to help Nefyn's rather rundown atmosphere.

Nefyn
The mini-roundabout effectively marks the centre of Nefyn, where the A497 from Pwllheli meets the B4417. Straight on is Stryd Y Plas and to the right Stryd Fawr (High Street). Despite its attractive location with a beach, Nefyn does not feel like a seaside village - it has quite a different atmosphere to, say, Abersoch on the other side of the peninsula. It has long been a minor centre at the heart of a deeply rural district, but its best days seem to be behind it. Shopping is pretty much limited to a couple of convenience stores and a post office; the building on the left is recognisably a former Midland Bank branch, but there is no bank here now.
