The Spice Bank, Criccieth
Built 1923 as the National Provincial Bank and latterly an Indian restaurant with a clever punning name. Cadw (grade-II listing 15369 https://cadwpublic-api.azurewebsites.net/reports/listedbuilding/FullReport?lang=&id=15369 ) likes it: "A purpose-designed bank of exceptional quality, using the Arts and Crafts principles of local materials and expressive massing in a highly unusual and striking design..." as does the Pevsner Guide: "a gem of a building...". The curry house is pretty good, too.

Spice Bank
Originally the Criccieth branch of the National Westminster Bank, the building was empty for many years. After a brief spell as a slate and gift shop it became yet another of this small town's many restaurants and takeaways. It once had three banks; it now has one.
