NEW Phone box and old slate mill, Pont y Pandy
Unusual phone kiosk, in that it still has a working phone within. Perhaps mobile signals are poor in this area.

NEW Old tramway approach to Pont y Pandy mill
The well defined line of the former tramway which brought slate to the mill from Gorseddau Quarry, some 2 miles away. The tramway was horse drawn on a 3 foot gauge. Off to the left and below a wall is a parallel track along which the finished products could be moved. The mill could be considered as an expensive folly, erected at the expense of two English investors who sought to make money from the nearby Gorseddau Quarries. The building was constructed circa 1858 and in 1860 processed some 2000 tons of slate, but the quality of stone at the quarry was poor and production dropped to just 25 tons 7 years later, with the company liquidated in 1871
