Built in 1931,the art deco Coliseum cinema is now facing an uncertain future following sale to a private developer,and now Gwynedd council has received an application to demolish it.

The Coliseum, Porthmadog
Built in 1931, the treasured Coliseum cinema is facing complete closure. The loyal and spirited people of Porthmadog and the surrounding area united in 1983 to save the cinema.

The Coliseum cinema is no more
A traditional style cinema which was opened in 1931 and had an important role in the iconic "Prisoner" TV Series. Despite various petitions to save and re-open it has recently been demolished.

Coliseum Cinema, Porthmadog
Just about 6½ years since I photographed the cinema in 2008 (see Image). Then it was an active picture house (unfortunately I didn't take a note of the film being shown). Now the building is closed, boarded and for sale.
