Y Cyt
"The cut" is the survival of the canal built to connect Porthmadog harbour and Madocks' "new town" of Tremadog. It ran from Llyn Bach to a basin near Tremadog, which has been built over.

Public footpath alongside Y Cyt / The Cut
Looking east towards the Chapel Street bridge. The footpath follows the line of the Gorseddau tramway from distant slate quarries to the harbour, and the tramway itself followed the once-navigable canal between Tremadog and the coast.

The Coliseum, Porthmadog
Built in 1931, the treasured Coliseum cinema is facing complete closure. The loyal and spirited people of Porthmadog and the surrounding area united in 1983 to save the cinema.
