Route of CTRL
The untarmaced area will be part of the route of the Welsh Highland Railway Cross Town Rail Link to Harbour Station. The men with yellow jackets are the vanguard for the construction contractors who moved in and established their site offices for the works a few days after this picture was taken. By the fencing on the left is a stack of Image] for the street sections of the line.

New tramway rail
A stack of brand new tramway rail ready for the Image In two places this new rail link will run along the street, hence the need for this type of rail with the flangeway in the top of wide railhead. Since very little tramway construction takes place in the UK at the moment, this rail had to be manufactured and specially imported from Austria.

Currently a car park, the right hand side of this site lies on the route of the Welsh Highland Railway CTRL (Cross Town Rail Link) on which construction is just starting.

Entrance to a large car park in Porthmadog
The Llyn Bach car park has space for nearly 400 cars. A metal barrier above the entrance prevents any vehicle taller than 2 metres from entering. A sign fixed to the post on the right states that overnight camping is prohibited.
