Ysbyty Bron Y Garth Hospital buildings
The hospital closed in 2009, to be replaced by the Ysbyty Alltwen community hospital at Tremadog. The old buildings lie empty and rotting awaiting a buyer but the Grade II listing of much of the site will limit any development potential. I photographed the hospital in 2007 (Image), not realising then that it was scheduled for closure.

Ysbyty Bron Y Garth Hospital
Set beside the A487 road at Minffordd. The hospital is in the North West Wales NHS Trust. Plans have recently been announced to reduce the number of trusts in Wales by amalgamation.

'Snowdonia Business Park'
A slate monolith announces the presence of the Snowdonia Business Park. Posters have been attached carrying the slogan 'Ble Mae’r Gymraeg?' – Where is the Welsh? Although the business park has been here for a number of years, the ideal of signs in Wales being bilingual is not new. It does seem to be a slap in the face of the local, predominantly Welsh speaking, population that the inscription on the stone is not bilingual.

Bron-y-Garth Hospital
Built c1838 as the Ffestiniog Union Workhouse; enlarged 1897 and later converted to hospital use. The hospital closed in 2008 and the Grade II building is now largely derelict.
