Brondanw Tower
Folly tower built c1920 by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis, architect, owner of the Brondanw estate. An inscribed slate tablet above its entrance records: 'This outlook tower was subscribed for as a wedding present to Clough Williams-Ellis and his bride Amabel Strachey in 1915 by his brother officers of the Welsh Guards. In the second World War it was prepared as a local military strongpoint to repel the expected German invasion.'

Tower at Plas Brondanw
In his autobiography, "Architect Errant", Clough Williams-Ellis explained that his Army colleagues had a collection at the time of his marriage and intended to buy him a traditional wedding gift of silverware. Williams-Ellis implored them to build him this tower instead!

The Brondanw Tower
The Brondanw Tower is a folly built for Clough Williams-Ellis as a wedding present. Over the tower door is a plaque with the following inscription:
