- Battle Headquarters: DoB ID: e40247 A conventional Battle HQ bunker having a single observation cupola seen here on the right, its entrance on the left (now infilled) retains its railings in-situ. This was the former wartime emergency bunker from where operations would have been conducted in the event that the airfield had been overrun. Image

- Battle Headquarters: DoB ID: e40247 The entrance to the underground bunker was via steps leading down below ground. The railings completely surround the access to the bunker, and so to come out, or to go down, required stepping over the rail at the far end. This was an obvious safety measure to prevent accidental falls, especially after dark. Image
