Forestry track high in Coed-y-Brenin in December
The Forestry Commission has opened up the massive plantations to walkers and mountain bikers, the latter really have got on board the many downhill routes laid out through the forestry. Large groups are to be seen toiling uphill in all weathers, their little legs whirring frantically as they engage hill-climbing gears, their little botties wet through and their red faces speckled with mud and their eyes like saucers as they hold their loud-mouthed conversations at any available spot, regaling each other with tales of derring-do, spectacular spills and close misses with ponderous and hesitant hill-walkers, who I am positive they silently creep up on only to whizz past and try to make jump or scream out loud in alarm and terror. Blinking nutters. Still, each to his and her own eh...
