Main entrance to Aberdovey Station
Unusually elegant for an Aberystwyth & Welsh Coast Railway structure. When this was taken the gutted interior was being used for a fête. See also Image

Raised platform at Aberdyfi station
Platforms of the old Cambrian Railways tended to vary between being quite low and being very low; that at Aberdyfi was merely quite low, but low enough to give problems for many people in getting on and off. The recently devised solution is shown here; a prefabricated raised deck which is not that expensive to construct and is easy to install, and has the potential to solve similar problems elsewhere.

Opened in 1867 on the Aberystwyth & Welsh Coast Railway's line from Machynlleth to Pwllheli, this soon became part of the Cambrian Railway's empire. View east towards Penhelig and Machynlleth.

Harrington Hump at Aberdovey railway station
The Harrington Hump at the eastern end of the only platform here increases the height of the platform for easier access to and from trains. Although the platform is much longer, the Hump is adequate for the 2-coach trains which stop here in 2016. The Hump has replaced the movable access steps seen here www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1383954 in 2009. The Harrington Hump takes its name from Harrington railway station http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3564245 in Cumbria, where the first humps were installed.
