Aluminium Works housing
This slightly incongruous row of houses on Gwydir Road was built by the Dolgarrog Aluminium Corporation to accommodate workers. It is astonishing that faux half-timbering would be incorporated in such a design, but it was a desirable feature of the time. In the 1990's it was found that many of them were suffering from significant structural defects, and a great deal of work has been done to repair these. Now it is possible to spot the ones which have been renovated because they have individual features which differ, and most have now lost the half-timber decoration.
