Streptocarpus Harlequin Dawn
A close up of this sensationally coloured Streptocarpus. A beautiful new variety with richly coloured cerise pink and yellow flowers. The flowers are held on strong upright stems, overall the plant has a compact habit reaching about 40cm in diameter when mature. After acquiring a series of plugs from Dibleys, the renowned Streptocarpus nursery, at the Chelsea Flower Show 2016, I have managed to get this one to flower.

Apple blossom time 2011
This tree, which is thought to be between 40 - 50 years old, still fruits, providing the neighbourhood with a constant supply of cooking apples.Thank goodness that Newton's law of gravity doesn't prevail at present.

Aroma for a kitchen window - close up
The scent from the Nicotiana apart from anything else provides an interesting feature in the evening and the window is open. All plants have been self grown from seed or mini plugs earlier in the spring and summer. Chrysanthemums included having overwintered now for two winters. An interesting find has been the colourful Ganzania which will hopefully fulfil their perennial nature. Image] Really must do the lawn edging.

Tennis at a snails pace
Perhaps Rafael Nadal would have enjoyed this pace. ('Rafa' had been knocked out in the 1st round at Wimbledon the previous day.)
