The main entrance to Ysgol y Berwyn
This is a bilingual comprehensive school which has one of the largest catchment areas in Wales extending eastwards to Glyndyfrdwy Image, north to Llangwm Image, south along the Hirnant valley to Image and westwards to Rhydymain Image Opened in 1964, it replaced the Bala Girls School (the red brick building on the left) and Bala Boys Grammar School (now the Cyfnod Restaurant). For most subjects, pupils are streamed on linguistic criteria, but Welsh is the main language of the school. Image

Christ Church was built in the 1850's on the site of a former chapel of ease that itself was only built in 1811. The building had a total restoration in the early 2000's.

The re-roofing of Eglwys Crist/Christ Church
This 1858 church is undergoing thorough renovation in order to create 'a modern 21st century place of worship'. In the interim services have been held at the church school and at the White Lion Hotel in the High Street.
