Llanfair Talhaiarn bridge
The bridge carries a minor road into the heart of Llanfair Talhaiarn over the Afon Elwy, a pleasant river, through rather polluted by farmyard run-off from somewhere upstream. There is a village pub which does food, though in these times of pandemic paranoia, your photographer preferred to take advantage of the riverside picnic tables to dispose of some three-day old left-over curry. This does indeed seem to be a popular picnic spot on warm summer days, but I had it to myself on this mid-November day despite the sky having only just clouded in from what had been a sunny day (though windy on the tops). The Elwy valley is in the rain-shadow of Snowdonia, so is often quite pleasant when, as today, the higher hills to the east are beset by low cloud and drizzle which even extended to the coast of Anglesey (my family reported, later) so I was pleased with my choice of walk.
