Pont Melin Rhug
The bridge was probably built in the early C18, and similar in style to the local bridges over the River Dee at Corwen, Carrog and Cynwyd. It is listed Grade II*. The A5 used this bridge until a new bridge was built just north of it.

New A5 bridge over Afon Alwen
The steel and concrete bridge takes a straighter line over Afon Alwen and replaces the stone built bridge with a fearsome corner as you approached from the west. The bridge has 6 welded steel H beams made in 3 sections which are plated and bolted together, the reflection in the river shows them clearly. The roadway is laid on reinforced concrete slabs laid across the beams. The beams rest on shock absorbers set on the concrete abutments.
