Jeweller's Shop - Ruthin
This shop on Clwyd Street has had a face-lift about 10 years ago - the original timber frame is now showing - and it has become a very attractive building.

The Old Courthouse, Ruthin
One of the town's impressive medieval buildings, the old courthouse, or manor courthouse, was the site of the principal court of the Lordship of Dyffryn Clwyd. Built in the early years of the fourteenth century with cells for prisoners in the basement area, the remains of the scaffold can still be seen projecting from the eaves. The last execution to take place there was probably that of a Franciscan friar, Fr Charles Mahoney, on 12 August 1679. This building is now a branch of the Natwest Bank. http://www.francisfrith.com/search/wales/clwyd/ruthin/photos/ruthin_R292081.htm

St Peter's Square, Ruthin
The clock tower at the centre of Ruthin town square was built to commemorate "the private worth and public service" of Joseph Peers, who was Clerk of the Peace for Denbighshire for 50 years. http://www.pmsa.org.uk/pmsa-database/11347/ Beyond the clock, to the left, is the Seven Eyes, formerly the Middleton Arms, named for Sir Hugh Myddelton who brought water to the City of London by financing the construction of a river to connect the springs of Amwell and Chadwell to the city, in the 1620's. For this he was made a baronet - Sir Hugh Myddelton of Ruthyn; there is also a statue to him near the terminus of the new river, at the corner of Upper Street and Essex Road, Islington.
