Name plate on old crane
The name of the maker is cast into the central support of the old railway crane at the craft centre. Rd KITCHIN WARRINGTON Richard Kitchen (sic) is recorded on the 1851 census as employing 44 men, and on the 1871 census, at the age of 75, as employing 100 men. No doubt the railways had something to do with his expanding business. See also Image
