Soames Brewery chimney, Tuttle Street/Stryt Twtil, Wrexham
This magnificent chimney was built in 1894 as part of the Soames Brewery in Tuttle Street/Stryt Twtil. The brewery no longer exists and its building has been converted into apartments. In 1990 the chimney was bought by the then MP Dr John Marek to save it from demolition. Soames Brewery Chimney detail
The former Soames Brewery chimney stands alongside Tuttle Street/Stryt Twtil. The large square section of brickwork at the top of the tall base facilitates the change to the octagonal shape of the chimney. It was purchased in 1990 by the then MP Dr John Marek to save it from demolition. It is now Grade II listed. See also Image

Plaque on Soames Brewery chimney
A plaque on the former Soames Brewery chimney commemorating the fact that in 1990 it was saved from demolition by Dr John Marek, the then MP for Wrexham. The chimney is now Grade II listed.

The former Union Vaults in Yorke Street
Across the top of this fine frontage on the corner of Yorke Street is the legend: BENTS BREWERY Co Ltd UNION VAULTS LIVERPOOL AND STONE Bent's Brewery, established in Newcastle under Lyme in 1790, was taken over by Bass in 1967. The building is now a restaurant.
