Primitive GWR Pannier Tank 0-6-0T at Croes Newydd Depot, Wrexham
This ancient 0-6-0T, No. 1532, dates back to 9/1879 when it was built at Wolverhampton Works as a standard saddle-tank, acquired its panniers in 1921 and just survived into BR, being withdrawn in 7/48.

Ex-GWR 0-6-0 Pannier tank at Croes Newydd Locomotive Depot
In the last days of steam, Collett-design '8750' class 0-6-0PT No. 9610 (built 7/45), standing by the coaling-stage, has already lost its number-plates and will be withdrawn about a month later (9/66). (See also Image]).

Croes Newydd Locomotive Depot, Wrexham
View into the Depot in its last days - it closed on 5/6/67. Providing motive-power for the many branches, collieries and industrial sidings in the Wrexham area, this ex-GW Depot had many 0-6-0Ts, including the standard '8750' class No. 3709 (built 10/36) featured. Few engines were left by 1966, but in 1954 the allocation of BR/WR 84J had been 46:- 1 4-6-0, 1 4-4-0, 4 2-8-0, 8 2-6-0, 5 0-6-2T, 22 0-6-0T and 5 0-4-2T.
