The Bradgate, Newtown Linford
The village pub takes its names from the adjacent park and has been extensively modernised internally. The first references to Newtown Linford date from the 13th century around the time that Bradgate Park was created as a deer park. The name means either 'new settlement where the lime trees grow' or 'new settlement by a ford over the River Lin'. It was an estate village for most of its existence, with the result that many of its old cottages have survived.
