Site of former Humberstone station, 1995
View eastward on the A47 Uppingham Road at Kitchener Road, Humberstone (Leicester), towards Lowesby and Melton Mowbray. Humberstone station had been just to the left, on the ex-GNR John O'Gaunt - Leicester Belgrave Road line, running roughly parallel here with the A47. This was a branch from the ex-GN & LNW Joint line, Nottingham - Melton Mowbray - Market Harborough. The regular passenger services on this line and on the Leicester branch ceased from 7/12/53, but workmens' services continued until 29/4/57 and Summer Saturday holiday trains ran until 10/9/62. All freight traffic on the branch ceased after 1/5/67, having from 14/12/64 run off a spur from the ex-Midland main line at Humberstone Road.

Library, St Barnabas Road, Leicester
One of two satisfyingly curvaceous libraries in the city by Symington, Prince & Pike, this one dating from 1937. Grade II listed.
It is now St Barnabas Library.
