Mars Woodland Project

Mars Petcare is one of the biggest employers in the Melton area and, apart from the factories in Melton Mowbray, Peterborough and Birstall, Leeds, it has a large national office and Pet Nutrition centre on Freeby Lane, Waltham. The Pet Nutrition Centre was first to occupy the site in 1973, using existing stud farm buildings that the company acquired. The administration services of the company were moved here from Melton in 1981 into purpose built offices, cunningly disguised within the landscape so that they are hardly noticeable from the surrounding roads.

Mars Petcare National Office
The main entrance to the offices of this major employer in the Melton area. The internationally renowned Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition is here as well. The Waltham transmitter mast can also be seen in this photograph. It is situated just to the east of the Mars site.

Country Road near Waltham on the Wolds, Leicestershire
This narrow road leads to Waltham Lodge and on towards Stonesby although it turns into a very muddy track just past the Lodge. It follows the north edge of the square at this point.
