Former Corn Exchange, Nottingham Street, Melton Mowbray
Grade II Listed corn exchange of 1854. Melton Mowbray Corn Exchange and Public Rooms Company was registered between 1844 and 1856 and either dissolved before 1856 or re-registered by 1860. The exchange has had various uses including, amongst others, the home of the county court and petty sessions, library and savings bank; the later two listed in the 1899 Kelly's. Latterly it was an entertainment centre for the town, hosting concerts, dances, balls and functions attended by Royalty. Today behind the unchanged façade lies the Bell Centre shopping precinct.
