Soar Bridge Inn
It was originally a hostel for boatmen. The inn was once distinguished by a painting on the gable end of a railway engine, and was known as the Railway Inn. When extensive alterations were made to the interior it was re-named the Soar Bridge Inn.

Filling the lock
Two boats arrived to lock down and their crews have opened the paddles to fill the lock. If there had been a boat in the lock it would have been dangerous to open the paddles in the lock gates fully, like this, as this is likely to swamp and sink the boat.
