Roundabout on Halstead Road, Mountsorrel
There is a great deal of new housing in Mountsorrel, transforming it from a sleepy village to a busy commuter area, handy for Leicester and Loughborough. This estate is built on Walton Way to the south west of the village.

Mountsorrel Station in its broader setting
This is the first day of public steam trains on this preserved mineral branch and the only open weekend in 2015. The train is topped and tailed by small tank locomotives and this is the bigger of the pair - NER H class built 1891. On the other end is diminutive 1941 built Peckett - Teddy.

Blowing off at Mountsorrel
This was the first public open weekend of the Mountsorrel branch of the Great Central Railway. The special train consisted of two carriages topped and tailed by steam locomotives. At this end is NER class H No. 1310 of 1891. This is an 0-4-0T designed by Wordsell. The locomotive weighs a mere 22 tons 14 cwt. You can see that the weather was indifferent.
