Looking towards Zouch. In practice, the villages of Zouch, Normanton on Soar and Sutton Bonington were all closer to Hathern Station than Hathern itself, so why the name was chosen is unclear.

An East Midlands train passing the former brick and terracotta works
East Midlands Trains class 156 156405 passing the former Hathern Brick and Terracotta Works building. The Hathern Station Brick and Terra Cotta Company was established in 1874 and work continued here until 2004. The site is now an industrial estate.
