Hay Railway
Approaching 200 years old, and out of use for nearly 150 years, this stretch of the Hay Railway remains in remarkably good condition. It had been noted in 1816 that this embankment was liable to slippage!

Between the lines
Looking from besides Arrah Lodge. The field lies between two former railway lines. To the right is the Hay Railway whilst on the left is the later Mid Wales Railway (which was taken over by the Cambrian Railway). The Mid Wales Railway Railway built their line on the course of the older Hay Railway (a horse-drawn tramway) with a few deviations- as seen here.
