Former school, Warton
This was built as an infants school and lecture hall in 1864. The plaque under the porch gable states that it was bought for the education of the children of Warton as a 1914-8 war memorial, and the small plaque at the bottom records that it was converted to a house in 1979. There is another former school, also converted to a house, over the road.

Malt Shovel Inn, Warton

Warton from the Crag
Actually just a part of the western bit near the church (tower visible on the left, just right of the couple on the path). The fields beyond are wet from recent rain. In the distance are the moors of the Forest of Bowland with Caton Moor wind farm visible in the clear air of a late winter afternoon/evening.

Power cut in Warton (2)
The Image did have a generator so was able to provide some lighting during the power cuts that blacked out almost the whole village. This was the result of flooding of a substation by the River Lune that affected Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham and many nearby villages. Some places close by such as the Yealands, Arnside, Silverdale (and even a part of Warton) were not affected as they were apparently served by another substation.
