New Street, Carnforth
The imposing building on the right is the former premises of the Carnforth Co-operative Society with a shoe shop, grocers, chemist and butchers. Upstairs was a grand hall which saw many local events including Friday evening dances and films. The building dates from 1881.

Ducks on the Lancaster Canal
Nearly 60 mallard ducks have congregated around a small patch of water at the edge of the frozen canal. Only one drake is actually floating in the water. They are joined by a couple of black headed gulls, a pigeon, a coot and a moorhen.
