Manufacturer's mark on the 'Cherub' lamp, Wray
On the side of Image it reads:
'Geo Smith & Co Sun Foundry Glasgow'. Corrosion and thick paint make it difficult to read.

Fitted to the post of Image it reads:
'This lamp was erected in the year 1887 to commemorate the completion of the fiftieth year of Queen Victoria's reign'.

Close-up of the 'Cherub' lamp, Wray
This well-known piece of street furniture was put here in 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It was built by George Smith & Co. at their Sun Foundry in Glasgow http://www.glasgowsculpture.com/pg_biography.php?sub=smith_g-co Another example of their work, on a much grander scale is Image in Paisley. It's a pity about the rather incongruous low-energy bulb.
