Tree stump, Peacock Lane, Hest
A large tree has been felled recently; the trees are getting too big for their situation between the houses and the narrow road. Peacock Lane was named after Robert Backhouse Peacock, author of "A Glossary of the Dialect of The Hundred of Lonsdale North and South of the Sands" (1869).

Postbox, Hest Bank
Beside a small area of green and set into a bridge pillar is a George VI reign postbox. Thanks to the sharp eyes of fellow Geographer Roger Templeman, a bench mark has been found on the side of the pillar. http://www.bench-marks.org.uk/bm33947
