Holiday lets at Ambleside, Cumbria
This row of cottages overlooking the town of Ambleside, in the Lake District, is largely given over to holiday lets - a mainstay of the local economy. The cottages, built from local stone, have been re-modelled, and in some cases enlarged, to cater for holiday makers.

Garden in Ambleside
The display was stunning, much better than the photo shows. I waited until a lady had passed who was walking slowly up the hill. She said "I can't rush, but I pass this every day and it gives me encouragement to get up the hill".

Looking along Lake Road towards Ambleside town centre
Looking north along Lake Road towards the town centre of Ambleside. The towns small BP filling station is on the right side of the road, opposite the junction with Wansfell Road. The 'No Entry' sign on the far side of the road junction marks the beginning of the one way system which operates in the town, with all traffic heading into the town centre diverted left down Wansfell Road.
