Former post office, Scotforth
This closed as a post office in about 2006 at a time when the local PO was becoming more and more unviable as a business. Now it is student house letting agency but before this I think it was a fitted window shop or something similar. I remember asking the last postmaster if he was sad about closing and surprisingly he said no. They'd had a violent robbery here not long before and I think they had just had enough.

Sign for the Bowling Green
In dialectal use 'bowls' can still refer to skittles rather than the games played on grass. There is also a difference between crown-green bowling, as played in the north, and the flat-green game played in the south.

Olympic Torch Relay, Lancaster
Outside Booths on the A6 Scotforth, Lancaster. The torch bearer in white track suit almost totally obscured by an escorting runner.Best I could do! The flame just seen above the escorts head. The rain was torrential with strong winds. The torch appeared to be travelling right on the north south grid line. From Mount Olympus to a wet A6.
