Old Boundary Marker on Golgotha Road, Lancaster
War Department Boundary Marker set in the corner of the boundary wall on the north side of the junction of Golgotha Road and Coulston Road, Lancaster. Formerly inscribed W ↑ D / No 26 but has been effaced. It marked the boundary of the former Bowerham Barracks (King's Own Royal Regiment, c.1873 to 1959), now a campus of the University of Cumbria.

Boundary Stone
War Department boundary stone, marking the edge of the former Bowerham Barracks (Kings Own Royal Regiment, c. 1873 - 1959), now a campus of the University of Cumbria. There were 31 of these stones; they are marked and numbered on old 25" OS maps. Most are still extant, and most have had the lettering chiselled off, as here, when the War Dept vacated the site. This one (No.27) is on a bastion of the boundary wall. Contact me for more details.
