The Clubhouse where in years gone by much refreshment was taken.In the 80's I recal watching a top class Lancashire side give the Australians abit of a pasting on hard pitch with the snow falling.

Pad Field Pond - Lancaster
In the area of what remains of the 'Pad Fields' or 'Paddy Fields' as some would call it, still exists a pond, marked by the bushes. In the 50s and early 60s I and friends would spend many a happy interesting hour catching/watching the tadpoles, frogs, and newts. Alas these days it is glogged up and is more like a swamp, sad to say.

Clogged Pond at Pad Field - Lancaster
Sadly this 'pond' is more like a swamp. In the 50s and early 60s we kids knew this 'Paddy Fields' area was a very interesting place when the pond was a proper pond, with Dragonflies, Water Beatles, Tadpoles, Frogs, Newts etc.

That was the Pond that was! - Pad Fields - Lancaster
This was a great place to be; us kids with grubby cut knees - did how we pleased - caught Tadpoles, Newts, and Frogs, stared in wonderment at helicopter like Dragonflies, heard Skylarks far up on high, who's the first to spot him/her, little bird in deep blue sky! We kids of the 50s early 60s have now gone, and I wonder when all that wondrous magic pond water had gone. But there must still be nature's creatures here in there, maybe more than one or two!
