The Blue Mill
Now the site of a hotel and health club, this was formerly the factory where the blue pigment ultramarine, or "dolly blue" was manufactured by Reckitt & Sons. The 'blue mill' was well-known locally, as dust from its production gave a blue tint to most of the village. Looking downstream from Backbarrow Bridge with a high river flow. The houses and holiday accommodation were built c.1984 after closure of the Reckitts Dolly Blue works. (Compare with Image, taken in June 2008.)
