Littlewood Building with mural at sundown, Edge Lane, Liverpool
The Littlewoods Pools building is a notable building on Edge Lane in Liverpool. Built in 1938, the building is a listed example and is next to the Wavertree Botanic Gardens.
The building has had various uses throughout its life. During World War II, it facilitated the manufacture of barrage balloons and woollen material. In the 1940s, throughout the war, the building was continued to be used by Unity Pools (formed from Littlewoods, Zetters and Vernons).
In May 2016 a giant mural featuring young Liverpool talent was painted on the iconic building as a celebration of Merseyside talent.
The art work covers two huge 20m x 20m walls, creating an impressive backdrop to this arterial route into the city.
Designed and painted by globally renowned graffiti artist, Replete, and Liverpool's own Betarok75, it pays homage to its thriving creative and digital industries.
