Sculpture outside Liverpool University (Music?) Department
Is it a hand holding an elephant? Whatever it is, I loved it!
It stands outside the entrance to the Music(?) Department in Liverpool. Please advise if I've got it wrong.

Department of Civic Design, Bedford Street South, Liverpool
Part of the University of Liverpool. Built 1950-51 to the designs of Gordon Stephenson. Modernist in its overall form, the continuous bands of windows and canopies on slender iron columns. Pevsner remarks that "it has the slightly undernourished look that marks that period of austerity".

14-30 Oxford Street, Liverpool
A late-Georgian terrace, c1820, of two-bay houses, each with an arched doorcase flanked by Doric columns. The familiar local motif of painted wedge lintels is also in evidence. Grade II listed.
It has been colonised by the University of Liverpool.

Philharmonic Hall Liverpool
To my mind this is rather austere given the surrounding buildings.It is not the original concert hall on the present site; its predecessor was destroyed by fire in 1933 and the present hall was opened in 1939
