Philharmonic Hall Liverpool
To my mind this is rather austere given the surrounding buildings. It is not the original concert hall on the present site; its predecessor was destroyed by fire in 1933 and the present hall was opened in 1939

A late-Georgian terrace, c1820, of two-bay houses, each with an arched doorcase flanked by Doric columns. The familiar local motif of painted wedge lintels is also in evidence. Grade II listed. It has been colonised by the University of Liverpool.

Medical Institution, Mount Pleasant, Liverpool
Almost a quadrant-shaped plan, the front dominated by a hexastyle Ionic portico. Most of the facade has horizontal rustication. All in all, an original and distinctive composition, built 1835-37 to the designs of Clark Rampling. Grade II* listed. It is still occupied by the Liverpool Medical Institution, which includes a library, conference centre and lecture theatres.

Liverpool's Everyman Theatre 2011
Looking across Hope Street towards the 'old' Everyman Theatre, which was about to be demolished to make way for the new one. Over a period of 20 weeks the theatre was carefully deconstructed, brick by brick, so that as many as possible could be reused in the new theatre. Liverpool-based demolition experts Sloyan Doyle took the old theatre apart, officially handing over the cleared site to the builders Gilbert-Ash on the 28th November 2011. The painstaking approach to the project turned out to be completely worthwhile as it was announced on the 16th October 2014 that the new theatre had won the prestigious Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize, the world's most prestigious architecture prize, for the best new building of the year. http://www.everymanplayhouse.com/
