Chadwick Laboratory, Peach Street, Liverpool
By Basil Spence, 1957-59. A flush facade with rounded corners, whose painted concrete and grey mosaic cladding "have not aged well" (Pevsner). Out of shot to the right is a low block containing laboratories and lecture theatres - this houses the University of Liverpool's Physics Department and is named, presumably, in honour of James Chadwick, discoverer of the neutron and erstwhile professor of physics at Liverpool.

19 Abercromby Square, Liverpool
An especially opulent town house, wider and taller than its neighbours in the square. The centre is emphasised by a Doric porch and pedimented window. Built 1862-63 to the designs of William Culshaw. Grade II listed. The original patron was C.K. Prioleau, a businessman from South Carolina, later it served as the Bishop's Palace, and now it is owned by the University of Liverpool.
