Aintree Central Station ? 1967
The size of the station, with 4 platforms suggests a busy line, but in practice services were never frequent. The extra platforms were needed for just one weekend a year, on the occasion of the running of the Grand National at Aintree racecourse. Regular passenger services ceased in 1960, although race day traffic continued until 1966. The train seen here is an enthusiasts' special covering lines in the Liverpool area.

Aintree station - sidings
These sidings come off the former North Mersey to Fazakerley freight line, disused since 2005, but according to one source there is still the possibility of reviving the line for passenger use at tome time in future, in which case Aintree would become a junction station once again.
