Liverpool Exchange Station , Tithebarn Street
Liverpool Exchange Station opened originally as Tithebarn Street railway station on 13 May 1850. The station was badly damaged during World War II losing a large proportion of its roof which was never rebuilt.
The long distance services were transferred to Liverpool Lime Street in the 1960's and in 1977 a new Merseyrail link line to Southport and Garston was built at a lower level and a new sub surface station (Moorfields) opened nearer to the city centre.
Liverpool Exchange closed on April 20, 1977 and the station itself demolished, however, the hotel frontage of the station building was preserved and incorporated into a new office building called Mercury Court.
