Architectural gems
The eastern end of Derby Street has a number of surprisingly imposing buildings for what appears to be the town's back street, but its history, with the Parish Church at its western end, must have been very different.

The business on the immediate right is Beck's Sandwich Bar 'founded by Andy Becksmith in 2019'. Next to that is Left Bank Brasserie, opened in 1994.

43 Burscough Street
Dominating the view up Burscough Street, this former town house and later council offices has been a grade II listed building since the 1950s. Its size and position make it almost impossible to photograph from the front. It is now known as Walter Brown House after a local councillor.

Mystic Mews
The fairy wing repair shop is now closed due to lack of demand. It is cheaper to buy new wings on the internet than to repair old ones.
