Formby postal delivery office, Brows Lane
Formby Post Office is now in a small shop nearby, this used to be the post office but is now the Royal Mail office for sorting mail for local delivery.

The local branch of a national bank which is currently in deep financial trouble. The building seems to be modern with a Tudor-style half timbered frontage.

Charity shops, Brows Lane, Formby
The town centre of Formby is "The Village" mainly in Chapel Lane but partly in Brows Lane which runs on from it. In this photo the national charity "Help the Aged" has two adjacent shops. Beyond them "Animals in Need" is the shop for a local animal sanctuary which participates in the national web site Animal Saver http://www.animalsaver.co.uk/index.php .

Chapel Lane Formby 2008
Chapel Lane is in the centre of Formby and the street is known locally as "the village". It is the main shopping area in Formby and the scene of annual street Nativity Play, Dickens Day and numerous sales of work for charitable causes.

Formby Luncheon Club
Formby Council for Voluntary Service provides luncheon for senior citizens on four days a week. About once a month on a Saturday they are open to anyone for "The Breakfast Break" providing a cheap cooked breakfast through to lunchtime - we enjoyed brunch there mid-morning.

M Local, Chapel Lane, Formby - Morrisons convenience store
Among the major supermarket chains Morrisons were late into opening convenience stores, but are increasing the number rapidly by taking over shops vacated by Jessops and Blockbuster.

Holy Trinity church and hall, Formby
The hall is called "The Workshop". On a Saturday morning it was very busy as a café with produce stall and bric-a-brac stall. We enjoyed a coffee for 50 pence each, much cheaper than the other coffee bars around.
