Formby Methodist Church interior with digital hymn text
The church interior has had a major renovation - partly because the floor had to be renewed. Hymn texts are now displayed on screens on the left and right of the lectern in front of the altar. Having the text high up seems to make the congregation sing out more strongly than when looking down at a book. There is an organ, but music can also be played digitally, all controlled from a laptop computer on the Minister's lectern. The texts of bible readings are also displayed. But the collection is still taken in cash. Photograph taken before the Christmas Morning service.

Formby Methodist Church - Christmas Day
The church is in Elbow Lane. Worshippers enter for the 10.30 am service with carols. During the service children were asked to show the presents they had received that morning.

Formby Methodist Church, Christmas Day 2014
Same church, same people as shown in a photo Image on Christmas Day 2005. Fewer worshippers than 9 years ago, and far fewer children at this "family service". Only one family present with children - they came to the front to show the presents they had received, some were new electronic games.

Gift, card and flower shop, Formby
Derbyshires is a very useful local shop, I have bought a number of items there on my visits to Formby. On the left is a barber shop, on the right is a branch of the coffee shop chain Caffè Nero.
