At the junction with Rupert Road. The name doubtless derives from the fact that it was bridged by the Liverpool and Manchester Railway, a real novelty at the time.

Huyton Station signal box
This appears distantly in John Martin's view Image - the trains in both pictures are on the same track. It's difficult to recognise that there were once two further tracks beyond the signal box.

Signal box and engineering works, Huyton railway station
Some of the station redevelopment, and relaying of track, can be seen behind the signal box. This is in preparation for the electrification of the line, in 2014. With electrification, the station is to regain the use of two platforms, which had been closed to the public since the 1970s.

The lines towards Roby, Huyton railway station
Seen from the end of platforms 2 & 3, the lines have been doubled, catenary installed and the signal box is gone. The march of progress, see: Image, from slightly further east along platform 2, only 18 months earlier.

The train departs from Huyton with a service to Liverpool. To the right-hand side is Huyton signal box. Some of the station redevelopment, and relaying of track, can be seen behind the signal box.
