End of platform, Roby railway station
The engineering works can be seen, towards Huyton signal box, which will reinstate two sets of tracks which had been pulled up in the 1970s. This is to be completed for the electrification of the Liverpool to Wigan line, in 2014.

Roby is one of the oldest railway stations in the world as part of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. It was opened in September 1830 by the Prime Minister, the Duke of Wellington.
