1-5 Rodney Street, Liverpool
Three houses, each of three bays, and each with an arched doorcase framed by fluted Doric columns (Image'>Image), and wrought-iron balconies. As usual the familiar local motif of painted wedge lintels is also in evidence. These will have been built between the early 1780s, when the street was first laid out, and the 1820s. Grade II listed. Comparison of the near and middle house demonstrates the malignant effect on the Georgian proportions of replacing the original windows with Victorian plate glass. I think these were in various institutional uses.
