"The Rocket" at Rainhill
A public house with a name that recognises the significance of Rainhill in the history of railways. It was in this little town in 1829 that Stephenson's "The Rocket" steam train was first seen by the public during The Rainhill Trials.

George Stephenson's bridge, Rainhill railway station
Situated at the western end of the station, the bridge was built by George Stephenson and is now in use as part of the A57. Signal HN305 is in front of the bridge, as one looks in the direction of Liverpool.
